Absolute power corrupts absolutely

Can congress change its stripes? I am no fan of BJP but as its demise may lead to absence of opposition, leading to the excesses of anarchy and I am concerned with our future. For this position last seen during honeymoon days of Rajiv Gandhi (prior to that we saw the same in 1971 with India being Indira) may be frittered away leading to repeat of history.

This can also be used to lay the foundation of a stronger India and big bang reforms may be introduced. With allies like TMC and DMK I doubt, as they have there own agenda which does not include nation building. Even congress is yet to come to terms with the new dynamics of our social /political fabric which to some extant has got integrated with the uni-polar world with significant balancing power in the form of China and allies (read) south Korea , Pakistan , Iran , Iraq etc.

I find that the basic culture of congress also is not to take risk and introduce bold reforms the kind seen during 1991. The whole idea is not to upset the apple cart. No one wants to get off the gravy train. So tinkering of old subsidy/quota system with sufficient discretion with political class continues.

Even the new brigade, which is supposed to have a modern outlook has so long failed to enthuse me with a fresh approach. So I am expecting more and more populist measures financed by deficit financing. Good and responsible governance…are we kidding?

Though congress had welcomed the youth in the party but i don't think they get enough chance to do what they feel is right. The age old agendas of congress can't get changed overnight by few young members. There has to be some strong force behind that.

Sometimes i feel, we need people like Kiran Bedi in politics. She, if given power, will set everyone right, im sure.
