So much hue & cry is being raised on the just compensation for rape. I wonder is there a compensation for such ghastly act.
As rape is not just a physical assault it is a violation of soul.

It symbolizes the helplessness of the victim when the most intimate parts of her body lay exposed. And the body itself becomes the play thing for the tormentor.

The feeling of having been violated keeps haunting the victim all her life like the entire movie in flash back.Just think of a person who gets pregnant as a result or worse gets aids. If there can be living hell on this earth a rape victim experiences the same.

This perhaps is the sole object of the tormentor to make the victim a living corpse except when in a fit of passion he loses his senses & becomes a demon.

It is not for nothing that death penalty has been prescribed for rape in some cases, the ultimate law can award.But will revenge bring solace to the victim or to her kins ?when the victim is killed or takes her life unable to deal with the trauma.

To my mind no compensation is sufficient but a rape victim can be rehabilitated just like a bird with broken wing which may never fly but can pass the rest of her life in the safety of a cage. Faith in god & the willingness to let go , to cast aside the past memories like a bad dream & carry on with life or what is left of it can be the only solution.

Easier said but there are so many untoward incident which happens to us loss of limb, money, reputation or the dear ones can be some examples loss may never be recouped specially the one caused by death or accident but we can learn to live despite the same.

This can be the only just compensation for the rape victim I think
The ability to forgive the tormentor & to live in peace. At the same time exemplary punishment or psychological treatment or both may be provided to the tormentor so that such ghastly acts are not repeated.
