Condemning condoms!

I do not know how to react when religious leaders of all hues look down upon contraceptives and sex education in the land of Khajuraho and Kamsutra. Being officially celibates, they are free from the burden of families and do not know what it is to bring up child. (Should earnestly listen to the first couple of Bihar, Mr and Mrs Prasad).

The opposition is in the name of interfering with the laws of nature. I feel they themselves are the first offenders on this count by taking the vows of celibacy. If everyone follows them then, the world will come to an end in no time.

Taking their advice earnestly will lead to doing away with hospitals, medicines and schools also dams, roads etc. In short let us go back to prehistoric age. Even fire is taboo as it obstructs night and winter so also clothes. So, let us convert the world in to a beautiful nudist colony.

Apart from unwanted pregnancies, condoms check AIDS and other sexual diseases. Sex education makes a child know the consequences of unprotected sex in a structured and scientific manner. I am sure a great disservice to mankind is being done by such baseless propaganda.

Readers please do share your views, especially counter ones.

Had Indians been so aware about the contraceptives, we would not have been the 2nd largest populated country in the world.

It is the problem with all the religious leaders that they deny the importance of science and technology in improving the living standards.

You rightly said that these religious leaders are themselves violating the laws of nature by taking vows of celibacy. How can they deny the importance of reproduction?

Sex education is totally in contravention with the Indian culture.

You can’t justify the sex education in India by citing the examples of Khajuraho and kamsutra. These were the works of royal families and not of common men. Common men have nothing to do with the Khajuraho paintings.

It is a good idea to impart sex education to the children but I don’t think it will work in orthodox Family system in India. People here are not ready to talk on sex. How can Indian parents talk to their children on sex related issues.

Has sex education reduced rate of teenage pregnancies in West? I have no problem with condoms or sex education but I don’t think they are going to serve any purpose in absence of values.I agree with view of Puneet that let’s not quote Khujraho to justify wrong set of trend patterns.

Shiv bhai jara ye batayein ki jab ilaaz hi rog ban jaye to kya karenge? The concept of safe sex has also led to host of others problems. What about them?

Anyway, I feel condoms and sex education are imperative in our times for new generation of youths. To make money and then enjoy(I mean unrestricted and unlimited sex) are the only relevant things in our times.Baki sab bakwaas hai especially the shit called moral values !!

It’s true that despite of sex education in western countries teenage pregnancy cases are increasing but they are secure from the STDs at least. Inculcating values in the youth is very necessary but we can’t turn blind eye to the problem. There has been a shift in the values and culture ever since we adopt the neo-liberal economic policies.

@Hiten

Don’t you think if we go in values other than embracing condoms whole-heartedly we will have better results ! Well,as far as I am aware, STDs are result of having many partners !!

Condom is merely a face-saving solution for the host of complex problem created by us in tune with unlimited sex with unlimited partners !!

Actually there is no sex education in America. What they CALL sex education is really 4 weeks of biology and hygiene in the 6th grade. I should know, not only did I attend public schools, but taught in them for many years.

Religious people objected to every text book, so they were rewritten and now contain nothing about sex, only reproductive cycle.

Teen pregnancy has risen in the recent years when they changed to an ”abstinence only” policy because republicans were in charge.

They also stopped giving out condoms in the high schools. If you look at the charts you will see that teen pregnancy did go down for years but is now on the rise again.

I knew that the so called sex education was a scam, so I went to the library and got books and videos designed for kids when it came time talk to my own kids about sex. Thank goodness that the religious nuts have not been allowed to ban any books lately.

Arvind, it only takes 1 infected partner to transmit an STD. Most wives who have caught an STD have only 1 cheating husband to blame. The values based, abstinence only program here in America is solely to blame for the misinformation that most Americans have about STDs.

@Nuya

Thanks to you for making me more informed. But ”cheating husband” or ”cheating wife” do indicate that there are more than one partners !!

true it could be either the husband or the wife that cheats and becomes infected.

But the spouse who only had 1 sexual partner still became infected with an STD so having only 1 sex partner is no protection against an STD, only condoms or total abstinence are.

Kajuraho & Ajanta are not located in a king’s palace
Kamsutra was also in public domain
Even the king of devtas , indra was a womanizer & is supposed to have copulated even by deceit
In indrasabha there were no of dancers like urvashi, rambha & menaka for whom even sage vishwamitra fell
Sankara has described the anatomy of devi durga in graphic details
Which we also find in devi stotra
In tantra , mithun was important under vamachar
So let us not try to appear ignorant about our culture
Ramanand sagar has gone on record that in the era of ramayan women used to be top less
Dilip & shakuntala had a gandharva marriage an accepted form of marriage
In mahabharat there is an episode about copulation on the ganges with the daughter of a fisherman
Even bramhajee one of tridev is suppose to have copulated with saraswati his daughter
Prostitutes have been there for time immemorial in our society
Nagar vadhu & devdasi were some of the accepted forms of prostitution
Need I say more
Sex education in an structured manner will prevent children knowing about sex by trial & error & will not have preconceived notions
If parents do not feel comfortable ngos & schools can come forward
There can be help lines or online portals
Will it not be better than their accessing porn sites
I think I rest my case here
Smokers do smoke despite the statutory warning
Even if a small section gets guidance the purpose will be served
When even our matured politicians & civil servants are caught in sex scandals the argument that despite sex education children may go astray does not hold water
If they do parents are equally to be blamed
So……
Any more arguments against sex education ?
it is better to have safe sex then to have aids

Sex has no room for education
Nature drives us humans ,and youth new to earth think there here forever ,and the drive to reproduce by nature is so strong that there are no warnings or visual warnings strong enough to deter youth or most any breeding human
Nature wants humans to breed when ready but like dizzy humans do they try to delay the breeding process and then blame the youth for doing somthing wrong
Sex is what humans do best and it should not be restricted by the same people that didn’t have theirs restricted

”The opposition is in the name of interfering with the laws of nature. I feel they themselves are the first offenders on this count by taking the vows of celibacy.”

Amen brother! LOL, (atheist humor)

The religions of the world have a vested interest in poverty. If they don’t keep up the over breeding which causes poverty, no one will feel the need to pray or donate as much.

How will they breed enough new little, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus etc. to keep their places on the religion score board?

How would they be able to recruit starving people to kill their rivals if there were no starving people?

Follow the money trails, they all lead to some fat cats at the top living like kings while their devotees suffer.

Sex has no room for education and nature drives us humans? Should we ignore the role of education in making the human being a civilized one? There are so many things that we learn from nature still we strive for improvement in that.

lack of sex education & unprotected sex will definitely lead to aids like giving a ferrari to a drunken driver in citi center during peak hours
so called celibates have no families so why should they bother
i am sure they are a very frustrated lot, most of them
i am not advocating casual sex but cannot be blind to reality

Presenting an old dialogue in new form. It’s in lighter vain.So don’t find it offending, crude and vulgar. The strange(or call it healthy) obsession for condoms makes me feel that it has become some sort of prize possession.

I am trying to depict this fascination via dialogue in its new incarnation.

Mr X :

Mere paas bangla hai, gadi hai, bank balance hai tumhare paas kya hai.

Mr Y: Mere Paas CONDOM hai !!

arguing for the hake of it will simply sap the energy & cause irritation
i feel it has no substitute so far prevention of unwanted pregnancies & protection from std
any one may fall a victim to a weak moment
i am not saying that like mobile (every one )should carry one but do feel that to oppose its use is not justified
after all it is up to the couple
to each his own
so arvind bhai pl do go ahead & do what you feel like
good luck & best wishes but pl do take care
now can we pl move on to some other worth while topic
thanks

Shivji aapki baat me mein bahut dum hai.Par agar badalte waqt ke saath Condom Mobile se jyada hit item ho jaye to isme kise ko koi problem nahi honi chahiye.

Aanewali generation ke vichar aadhunik honge aur wo humse jyada ”informed” bhi hongein.Ho sakta ho kal ko ladies ke purse me moblile ya lipstick na mile par condom jaroor milenga. That’s indeed a sign of progressive times.I agree with that.

I know that some people are equating the condom with free sex with everyone, but I see it as you do...it is better to be safe than sorry.

Married people who are not going outside their marriage for sex can and do use condoms as well. It is a cheaper form of birth control than some of the other methods. It is a lot less likely to have any side effects other than maybe a latex allergy. They do have a small failure rate, but so do the other methods.

If you think about all the forms of birth control, Pills and patches contain hormones that cause severe reactions. Inter-uterine Devices can become dislodged or puncture the uterus or cause sterility. Vasectomies and tubaligations are surgeries and any surgery has a risk, plus they are not good choices for people who are just postponing pregnancy until a later date. Gels, foams and sponges are messy, awkward and can cause irritations. Plus none of those protect against STDs or even simple bacterial infections of the urinary tract like condoms can. All in all, I would say condoms are a pretty good choice for anyone who has sex.

Emotion is what your answer is and my words of logic will never be heard because nature blinds emotion to truth
Education of humans on earth so far has done nothing but go over the same things over and over again with the same results
Shake your head and try to learn how we as a never changing animal works
Do i have the answers -yes -but that would take the 95% dizzy emotion to think logic and that is impossible

Your words are logical but like i said a breeding human will flower up their bodies up to the point of death just in case there is a last chance to reproduce AND THATS POWER
I use to use words of logic like you on this subject but called uncle to nature
I like your enthusiasim and desire to help other–have a good day

No matter how intellectual you are or how physically gifted your sensory organs or body parts are, what it needs to keep this world going on is, THE ORGANS OF COPULATION or the reproductive organs!

We do so much for other organs and body-parts, viz. eyes, ears, skin, the skull, hands, legs, etc, then why do people raise unwanted cries on the use of condom... which guarantees safety for your reproductive organs?!!

Moreover, an STD can prove as fatal as a serious injury to your skull!!!

Grow up people, it’s just like using sunglasses to shield your eyes from the harmful rays (of the sun and welding sparks) or using a helmet to protect your skull while riding a bike... or using a suntan lotion to protect your skin from sunburn or using ankle-length shoes while trekking in jungle to protect your feet n soles or using rubber handgloves while working with electrical apparatus or using gas-masks for safety reasons or using groin-guard while playing contact sports or using shin-guard while playing hockey or football or using supporter or ’langot’ while working out in the gym or using an umbrella (or raincoat) to protect yourself from rain or using....

I can go on and on with the examples, so let’s not waste more precious time.

Now the next point, like Shiv has clarified, using condom (or promoting the use of it) does not necessarily promote ’Casual sex’ or ’sex with multiple partners.’

Just like... when you use a helmet, you don’t jump and kickstart each n every motor-bike that you come across..

when you use sunglasses, you don’t necessarily n deliberately do eye-wrestling with the sun or welding sparks...

you don’t apply sunscreen just so that you have the liberty to live in a furnace..

you don’t wear rubber handgloves and start fingering with every electrical wire that you notice (just for fun)...

and so on...

So, a person who is comfortable with the use of (or with the promotion of) either a helmet or sunscreen or sunglasses or shoes or rubber handgloves or shin-guard or groin-guard or supporter or ’langot’ or raincoats or umbrellas... for their respective purposes, should not have any problem either with the use of condoms or with the promotion thereof!!

I know the comment was pretty crude... but some understand it the crude way.

Thank you Shiv, and thanks a ton to all the participants.
