Confusion Galore. The expression ‘headless chickens’ used by our US ambassador Shri Ronen Sen seems to be most apt for the situation prevailing in Singur where every body is working at cross purposes.
The chief minister wants TATA’s to return the land. CPM’s Singur unit wants them to bring another plant. Ms Banerjee wants to reclaim the lane scattered in tiny bits. How much & for what purpose she does not know.
How the concrete filled land will be used she does not know. Who will compensate TATA’s for the investment made no body knows. At the same time she also wants jobs for the displaced farmers as also handsome compensation. Jobs in what she does not know.
The contractors are unwilling to let the material lying at the plant site go. Is it a comedy of errors? I think the confusion will continue till next elections. What will happen thereafter is any body’s guess?
Meanwhile, we will have Adhoc winter holidays to go and have picnic in Singur. As number of Bandhs (closers) will be called. Till then cows will continue to graze there sorry not even they, for not a blade of grass can grow over concrete.
So can we say qua sera sera. Is your head spinning? Game for a coffee break. Let me be your host. Together let us raise a toast to Singur.
