Mamta vs. Marx
I must confess at the outset that despite having been born & lived in a left strong hold all my life I have no idea at all about Marx& leftist ideology but I have observed the quality of life in left dominated urban areas right from the Naxalbari era of 60-70. I have also seen the emergence of the ugly face of militant trade unionism which often found expression in the form of Bandh, Gherao& fatal assault I have also observed the Datta Samant lead textile strike as also the rail strike of Fernandez (what a coincidence as he was also a doctor but a real one I mean MBBS type).

All these years when scared by the fiery speeches of shri Jyoti Basu one after another all big business houses left Bengal in search of peace.

I often used to think if in my life time I will get to see the face of golden Bengal once again
Often I am the butt of anti Bengali jokes & have resented people saying that the climate of Bengal is not conducive to work & the moment people get two square meals they become mischievous & kick their plateful of food for no reason.

My hopes were raised when I found left chanting industrialization & wooing industry to Bengal.

Rapid development of real estate leading to emergence of salt lake as it hub , shining malls ,multiplexes& announcement of big projects gladdened my heart.Sorry I am yet to utter the M word but please be patent this is just the foundation.

DR KUMARI MAMTA BANERJEE emerged on the political scene of Bengal as a messiah after all it was no joke to defeat Mr Somnath Chatterjee (who even in his autumn was prepared for a head on collusion with the all powerful politbureau).I thought that now she being the youth will infuse fresh blood to rejuvenate bengal.

The unexpected , however , happened like bhagirath left brought a project like tata to bengal & didi blocked it like a giant barrage
I am her supporter , have voted for her & for me she remains a kaliyug ki sita, an untainted politician (both in political & personal life) as the endangered royal Bengal tigress fiery & forthright.

Even her staunchest opponents can not raise a finger on her character despite being single for her entire life so far
She has also kept to her humble life style as mahatma did pl do not bring a defamation case against me.So I was hurt when mr tata once said that opposition to the motor project was funded by his business rivals . I remember there was a huge hue & cry & the said charge was never repeated.

Few days back I read in papers about the funds being used for sustaining the movement & suddenly I started thinking about its source.I also heard a murmur about extortion by her supporters from the trade some thing started stinking terribly.A movement of this scale can not survive on hot air.

People without job, as their land has been taken away can not sustain for long still they have the capacity to start an agitation of this magnitude .After all why should someone fund them unless they have some self interest.

As Ms banerjee(no longer a doctor)has not furnished any explanation I would like to believe that houses threatened by this project can be the culprits may be two wheeler companies , may be , other automobile units or may be companies who have just started working on the similar projects OR SOME GLOBAL GIANTS
IN INDIA ISI IS BLAMED EVEN FOR A BAD WEATHER.

The needle of suspicion points to every one & no one
I wonder what is so important about bifurcating the project. When people who have given 600 acres of land willingly& have failed to join this agitation why the remaining owners of 400 acres are opposing it tooth & nail.

In fact the figure of 400acre itself has been disputed & till date ms banerjee has failed to produce the names of the owners of the same .WHO WILL DECIDE HOW MUCH LAND IS REQUIRED BY A PROJECT
It is no one’s case that commercial development will take place there.

I wonder what purpose will be achieved by choking the highways & who will compensate those whose goods are rotting in the rains
What a terrible national loss. When even court directives are disobeyed without any fear of contempt courts are perhaps right in saying that even god is helpless in India Or do we actually have a GOD.

Ms banerjee seems to be a law in herself answerable to none but every one is accountable to her ,the new avtar of Durga
may be mother has arrived early this year before pujas
With my limited knowledge of history only hitler perhaps had such utter contempt for jews.

Why she should hate tatas when they have done no harm to her & have expressed willingness for a dialogue from the rooftops
Being a well wisher of Ms banerjee I would like her to have a long political career as a counterbalance to left ,who can be brute & ruthless depending on the situation( the family of jute mill officers who are brutally murdered from time to time will vouch for me).

I wonder if the movement has any plan B I think it does not
No one is willing to take the responsibility for the violent actions.Like some one letting loose a deadly snake but disclaiming the responsibility for its bite.I wonder what happens if tatas do go away will the owners of 400a crores become multimillionaires
What about the owners of 600 acres & others who thought that this project brings the golden era back to Bengal Which other co will come here?

People have insinuated that the house of tatas had a juicy deal despite the unblemished reputation of the house of tatas who fought British to make the country self sufficient against heavy odds
An economic swaraj.Which management will stake its personal fortune for a public limited company?

Aviation is an industry close to Mr tata not only because he is himself a pilot but because air india a company close to his mentor JRD was unceremoniously nationalized & is ghost of its good old days. But he moved away & withdrew the project despite being the pioneer letting jet & king fisher rule the sky.

I am moved by the pain on the face of mr tata when he announced that he may have to concede defeat& withdraw
As a son of the soil I can just say sorry to him but is sufficient ?it is definitely not a cake of soap.

Apart from the loss of 1500 cr rs there is a loss of face as well
I am sure there was egg on his face all over when he must have faced smirk in tata boards & raised eyebrows saying we told you so
He must have felt like a sita humiliated again & again waiting for shelter in the bosom of the earth towards the fag end of his illustrious career.

Agreed he should have taken opposition in to confidence & should have gone ahead only after building of consensus but even a most negative person like me refused to believe that in bengal some one can oppose creation of employment of this magnitude. Some one has rightly said man is not a rational animal .As I sign off I saw samachar.com for the latest news the stalemate continues, tatas have withdrawn their employees, Japanese experts have left
Next week the inevitable will be finally & formally announced
I do not have a sweet tooth but promise to finish off the biggest sandesh I can lay my hands on If I am proved wrong. For once I pray for my defeat.I still do not know who is responsible for all this The destiny of bengal is a convenient scapegoat

HEY RAM
NANO IS DEAD LONG LIVE BENGAL
This piece has not been commissioned by the house of tatas or any one else.I am sorry if I have hurt some one but genuinely feel what I have written with malice towards none as a well wisher of bengal

Hey Shiv,
You have put across your point and popular sentiment very well. Yes, it is unfortunate situation.
Unfortunately everyone except TATA are getting an mileage from the Singur blockade.
I am appalled, Why WB govt is allowing such a blockade for over a week? That too when a NH is blocked and essential commodities are not reaching Kolkata..
Why aren’t they taking any legal steps? Don’t they have legal experts? Agreed, they don’t want to lose face by using brute force or police action...but then by showing soft resistance and repeating pleads to Mamata they are extracting political mileage as well. They are waiting for Trinamool lose popularity. The land is theirs, if Tata leaves, they’ll sell it off to some other foreign investors. I don’t think WB govt is keen about retaining Nano plant either, their inaction says alot. They should provide adequate protection to industries they are inviting.
Very true, state has to suffer due to these greedy political leaders.

do you think any other investor will be fool hardy enough to come . what about compensation of rs 1500 cr+to tatas . yes the government seems to be giving mamta a long rope to hang herself but no one is worried about public govt can use water cannons or rubber bullets but with naxals & hoodlums there will be retaliation in the form of bullets or bombs soon there will be a free for all with obvious result
it is a game of patience for every one except tatas

There is a famous saying in hariyana
Panchon ki rai sar mathe nala yahin khudega
I will abide by the court’s order so long it is dictated by me
Even if the highway is cleared by CROOK how law & order can be ensured ?can the state provide protection to all tata staff & their families?.only deployment of army/cirf can bring some order but for how long?what can the poor cm do whose writ does not run even in his own party
A right man in wrong party indeed
My full sympathy & earnest prayers for him & mr tata
So let us wait & watch
If nano goes nani will follow suit sooner rather than later
