When I saw the famous hindi movie my stomach was churning & I marveled at the imagination of the writer. I wish it had not come true in the real life.

To give a brief background to those not in the know of both, in the movie I am referring to, disillusioned by the system 4 college students take to violence. One of them kills his own father a power broker arms dealer involved in the supply of faulty spares to the air force.

In order to be heard they storm a radio station & broadcast there side of the story about a mig crash in which their friend a fighter pilot was proclaimed to be negligent while flying a fighter plane which developed a snag due to faulty spare parts & which the pilot crashed outside the city instead of bailing out.

The peaceful protest for this untruth was countered by needless violence by the establishment in which the victim’s mother was seriously injured.

In the Bombay shoot out enraged by the actions of Raj Thacker against Biharis a para medico from Bihar hijacked a bus in Mumbai & was shot dead by police just like in the movie where the students were unarmed & did not resist the police but were shot down so that the truth does not come out.

A striking similarity when Bhagat Singh a revolutionary courted arrest after exploding a small bomb in the assembly in Pre-Independence India in order to be heard during trial & was executed by British.

While it is easy to say any thing in hind sight, the police clearly knew that the youth was alone & was mentally disturbed as in his pamphlets he wanted to kill raj, an impossible task
While an inquiry has been ordered, public is cynic/skeptical about the genuineness of any state conducted inquiry.

Whether the truth will emerge & whether the guilty can be punished. He could have been engaged in negotiations. The bus could have been taken to a lonely spot. Rubber pallets or tear gas could have been used.

Perhaps the establishment did not want that he should stand trial.
Perhaps the police stormed the bus with the sole object of killing him.

As I mentioned one can write the climax of the story any which way but communal & hate politics propagated by politicians bankrupt of constructive ideas to steer the country towards grass root progress is solely responsible for his untimely death & many others who may follow his path.

May be history will paint him as Mangal Pandey object of another movie, the first revolutionary. No consolation though.
