I find that every body who thinks he is somebody has an opinion on budget. I consider myself to be no body still as self worth has no relation with net worth I also want to add my two penny on the subject.

I find that budget has nothing to give me an idea about the future of the country. There is an attempt to kick start the economy by spending but of what use if the scooter comes to life after repeated kicks if it does not have fuel or there are no roads on which it can ply.

I wish things were so simple then there would have been no recession. There is no attempt to curb expenditure not even a hint. I wonder why?

A government can spend either out of taxes or out of borrowings or out of printing notes. Of these, govt. has chosen to borrow in the process starving the private sector of funds.

Normally in such scenario they have access to foreign funds. Right now due to the upheaval resulting from sub-prime even that tap has run dry.

If there is no capacity creation then even if public has money it will simply make goods costly. As a bean counter I can only think of two ways of sustained development: One effective usages of scarce resources read prevention of wastage. Two sustainable increase in productivity.

I find that both of them are sadly missing. No attempt has been made to make BPL population self sufficient instead they are being made in to permanent beggars.

Massive thrust on infrastructure development with private participation with strict accountability and making BPL productive by assessment of their skills, retraining them if necessary and counseling and motivating them to work hard to achieve worthy goals - utopian goals but this is what I feel.

After all, mind you it is my opinion which you are free to use as a toilet paper or such better use as you think fit. I find the government to be a 90 year old pauper wooing 16 year old girl called public by borrowing left right and center.

What can be the future of the couple if they do decide to tie the knot . I mean if the girl is dumb and stupid enough. I doubt girls are sharp and extra smart these days. So, all I can do is to wait for the next budget some eight months away. Hope this will not turn out to be a stillborn child. Amen!
