The flip flop by saffron over Malegaon arrest & the clamoring by assorted Sadhus as to Hinduism being in danger because of that sounds a familiar (Islam is in danger) echoed over arrest of various other blasts.

To my mind no religion advocates such heinous practices & any one accused of the same can not be a holy person if found guilty. A Sadhu (hermit) is not supposed to send people to god physically but is only required to be a pious person by serving others or dedicating himself to god.

Protest by senior politicians at this stage will only derail the investigation & demoralize the ATS. I really feel sorry for the Bombay police chief who was forced to give a clean chit to raj Thackrery despite himself openly challenging the chief.

I am sure next time police will treat Raj like a porcelain vase. How sad! Lt. colonel is a senior ranking army officer. The fact that army has permitted ATS to arrest him & is not at all defending him shows that prima facie there exists reasonable grounds for his involvement in the blast & by implication also of Sadhwi & other monks.

The justification for the methods used during interrogation is a different matter all together. Without use of force no accused will give incriminating evidence against himself. Yes there should be a code of conduct for the investigating agencies which should be strictly followed.

This is another matter that those who commit such crimes have no conscience & do not follow human rights but can we become a beast while hunting a man eater. The argument can go on but the same code should also be applicable to all accused suspected of any crime which will require revamp of police force & overhauling of investigation methods.

Narco tests, brain mapping lie detector are all steps in that direction but then law of evidence & criminal laws must also undergo drastic change there has to be compatibility all around
This is a time taking procedure. At this stage any attempt to shield the accused can not be a desirable act on behalf of senior politicians.

Similar is the case of Delhi blast accused where both Samaj Wadi party & Jamia university is defending them for their own reasons. For samaj wadi party it is simply nurturing their vote bank.

Even if Jamia a state funded university wants to defend its students the same treatment should be for all its students involved in any case & no exception should be made here. I am not saying that an accused has no right to get defense but there are alternate channels for the same.

To conclude it is really said the level to which politicians can stoop for short term gains for a terrorist is a mentally sick person & may deserve sympathy & justice but that is about all. The law of the land should prevail in all cases - after all justice is blind.
