Two cases have been where lives were lost as the husband failed to accept the truth. We all know that reality bites and is really hard. Hence the truth must be pleasant, palatable and conducive to over all welfare. I wonder why virginity is such a big issue! Health and social order are two issues which support the view that the sexual relations should be confined to a couple.

Prevention of diseases is the primary one, but if suppose it can be taken care of them; the bohemian style will lead to a commune like order, which ultimately may mean free for all. Where female will have to single handedly bring up children and man will have no responsibility and will wander like gypsies with no sense of belonging. It may also lead to unnecessary fights.

Further sex between blood relatives may lead to stagnation of DNA pool which will have multiple health hazards. To cut a long story short, while Indian male always wants to experiment before and after marriage, he is unable to grant the same rights to female. As if they are sterilized bed sheets or tooth brushes/undergarments. I wonder why in literature female are portrayed as jealous and revengeful when it is the man who is clearly insecure.

I really feel that a time has come when if virginity is an issue the couple should sort it out pre marriage in any case aids test of the prospective couple will be a good practice. Later on it will be better if they can stick to single partner stand or at least practice safe sex. In any case unless a person feels himself strong enough to face the truth, he should not try to find it out. In any case why can’t we let the bygones be bygones and begin a relationship with a clean slate.
