The Unholy Nexus

Last night an upcoming spa situated on the outskirts of Kolkata was torched by an irate mob numbering 1500 over the murder of a local youth by a ruffian patronized by the lii fated mob.

The said ruffian used to supply security guards to the resort & had also played a key role in the land acquisition for the said resort. Here lies the rub the said murder may have been just the trigger to provide an outlet to the long simmering fire. These days to do any business one has to cut a political deal thought the criminals patronized by the politicians.

Similar was the case with the touts operating freely at airport & station with no one to control. In the context of land acquisition. This layer of middle man unnecessarily reduce the final gain to the displaced population who again have to approach the middlemen to get an employment with the upcoming enterprise at their land. ULFA in Assam BODO in Nagaland & GNLF in hill are some pointers to the malaise.

To some extant this might be the case with Singur as well. As police is not independent, politicians do what they like till they are displaced by another set or the commit excesses as In Bihar.

There is an urgent need for corporate governance in public life else business will have to continue to appease the powers to be resulting in unsavory incidents similar to the yesterdays.

the only difference between police & mafia is uniform
they have perfected the art of corruption to a fine art
nothing moves without grease , sleaze, & booze & of course a nod/wink from the politicians
