LTTE has been proclaimed as one of the most dangerous terror outfits in the world. For years Sri Lanka has tried to neutralize them but all in vain. Now finally when they are close to neutralizing them militarily LTTE has launched a political offensive in the form of making India force Sri Lanka to hold their horses permitting LTTE much needed time to regroup & launch offensive again.

India it self has been in the similar situation before when west & china have failed to take cognizance of its protest against Pakistan supported/sponsored terror attacks against India.

Previously also in order to increase its influence over Sri Lanka India has harbored LTTE & have trained them in RDX a technology they have happily passed on to other militant outfits operating against India & have used the same against our ex-PM Rajiv Gandhi.
If the offensive against them is stopped & they are given asylum in India they may tomorrow raise a demand for an Indian Elam. Besides India will have no moral ground to protest against assistance by Pakistan to the militant outfits operating against India.

We have all seen how politicians are susceptible to the charm of money & perceived short term electoral gains. It will be a sad day indeed if UPA government pressurized by its southern allays goes soft against LTTE.

So far save its stand on nuclear deal (where also due to some deft maneuvering by our PM & assisted by money ‘muscle & politicians with dubious reputation it has prolonged its tenure Willy Nilly instead of taking people’s mandate) has been to follow the path of least resistance &some how complete its tenure.

It will be really sad if offensive against LTTE is stopped & it is given a new lease of life. There is famous dialogue in Bacchan (senior) movie where a criminal shields his bosses despite police beatings ultimately he is released for lack of evidence while releasing him the police officer warns him that the fire he is shielding will burn his hand.

On coming home he finds that his daughter has been a victim of spurious drugs. Now he wants to give up crime but gets killed by the gang he was working for in order to silence him for good.
In Hindu mythology lord Shiv gives boon to a demon Bhasma Sur that whomsoever he touches will get burnt & the demon targets Shiv his benefactor first.

So we must resist the pressure at any cost & let the offensive against LTTE be successful of course political problem has political solution but military success forces the rebels to come to a negotiating table & negotiate from a position of weakness.
Let us see what lies in store for us. So far the government is seen to be giving in.
