This morning when I opened the newspaper I was shocked to read that in Baluchistan 5 girls were buried alive for wanting to choose their life partners. They were shot point blank & while alive were thrown in a ditch & were covered with mud & stones. As I was reading the report my hands started trembling & I almost spilled my morning cup of tea. Since than I am quite upset this article is sort of a purgative to get rid of all the emotional toxins choking my soul.

I feel that the world is living in different time zones at the same time.

There are places where ladies like ms Mamta Banerjee can bring a state govt to its knees, ladies like Mayawati, Jaylalita, Sonia Gandhi, Indra Nooyie, Barkha Dutt, Kiron Majumdar, Kalpana Morporia, Sunita Williams, Dr. Indira Hinduja, Mother Teresa can change the destiny of the world, ladies like Deepika Padukone can change boy friends or late Liz Tailor husbands like Hanky (no issues, big deal really?) We do have Hillary, Ms Rice, Ms Margret Thatcher our own THE Ms Gandhi (the saas not the bahus) else where we have places where women are bought & sold like cattle a la kamala, every street has its red light area, female infanticide is rampant, dowry deaths, rape, molestation & assorted crimes against women are increasing rapidly or are being frequently reported. Why the who with pati patni is always a lady? Why God, Allah or bhagwan is always a man? Why only beautiful ladies (hooresapsaras) are there in jannat (heaven) the fact remains that from time immemorial women are at a receiving end.

I wonder why no men are even raped or why expletives center round mother or sister? I do not want to question bible for carving eve out of the body of Adam, a sidekick, a doll for use or abuse, to run errands or to be a child bearing machine. I wonder why the expression characterless sticks to mostly women or not to man. As if it is the birthright of man kind to flirt. Each one of them being reincarnation of lord Krishna. Why women were given away in dowry? Why only women can be dev dasi we do have dev das but of different kind the one who having lost their lady love have found solace in spirit.

As the example of women doing very well has shown left to themselves women can do wonders they have a tremendous sense of commitment, honesty, spirit to surrender, sacrifice & the willingness to put duty before self. Their body structure is most complex. The pain endured during child birth measures 9 on a scale of 10 the maximum human being can endure. It is for these qualities that in Sanskrit it is said that the place where women are worshiped is heaven. In Hindu mythology the Devi is supposed to be the supreme the support of last resort for protection against all evils. only a women can change families effortlessly after marriage & can adjust with a totally new set of relatives with ease the custom of dowry the root cause of female infanticide or bride burning was actually a division of family wealth for migrating family member which has become a sort of birth right of the groom’s family like animals the dowry attached to a girl is negotiated. What a shame? In this very country eve teasing is rampant & young girls are stripped naked in public with bystanders merrily clicking pictures. Oh God why I am alive?

As I am writing this piece my mind refuses to function there is a tsunami of powerful thoughts & emotions overwhelming my mind & heart like a mighty kosi river in fury.

I do not know if justice will be done to women ever or they will have the fate of Sita or Draupadi for ever?
