I will say why not?
At least I have no answer to this. I wonder why despite being the oldest profession & an indispensable one prostitution does not command respect. The situation was not like that before. In indra sabha the apsaras did command respect. In moghul era tawayef meant fragrance. Royal courteseans used to command clout & respect & they did not offer sex to all & sundry.
Basically each one had some benefactors to take care of them rest could only see them singing & dancing. Hold it, I am not saying that I will not mind if my daughter/wife joins the profession.
All I am saying is that sex is a natural urge of human being to satisfy which society has devised the institution of marriage where apart from enjoyment of physical intimacy couple can raise a family, pass down the inheritance & form the first or grass root level for the constitution of society & state.
But what about singles or those having huge appetite or are away from family for extended periods? Suppression of sex may give rise to complications. Yes I am speaking for men. Women specially younger once seldom have to pay for sex. I am against any kind of force in flesh trade. So no one should enter this line out of poverty. There should always bean option to opt out & lead life as a couple. which sadly is missing now. As any entry becomes a one way street. Ladies past their prime start managing brothels
Apart from Purchase & sale of girls sharing of earning with cops & criminals & spread of diseases are some real issues.
There may be women for whom morality is no issue & are willing to provide sex if money is good compared to any other vocation. It is being done already by women known as escorts. Call centers, hotels, airline, travel &tourism, modeling & acting. Casting couch is not a foreign word. May be a time will come when sex will be out of closet & prostitution will also get an industry status well regulated & monitored by the state in an orderly manner & writing sex worker as occupation will not raise eye brows just like modeling or acting.
Note I have never visited a brothel or have any intention to do so in future or have any link with sex trade. Prostitutes deserve respect because they are honest & hardworking professionals.
But MUST be out of choice & not by compulsion

The lower class women maybe doing it to feed their children..if they work as a domestic helper… they wont get that much money even if they work whole day...and they wont have the qualification or experience to do any other job..
I have no respect for them ......
I've been told by the guys that women on the streets sells sex for merely RS 10 or 20.
They lay their child at a corner.. goes with the man for sometime and comes back to feed the child with that money.. A child, who's a bastard and tomorrow has all the possibilities to turn into an anti-social element.
Think at the ground level Maya. These people need help for the upliftment of our society. We should give them respect so that tomorrow they don't turn into criminals who rob our houses, kill our loved ones.
Treat them well. Every human deserves human rights; be it prostitutes, poor, eunuchs, beggars; and not just the ones with mobile phones or credit cards in their pockets.
