It is said that uneasy lies the head which wears the crown. Even his worst critics will not dare charge Dr. Singh with corruption. The question then arises as to why he chooses to take a plunge in the cesspool of politics and why he made the compromises he had to in order to remain on the hot seat.
Dr. Singh is a modest man, not arrogant or pompous. None of his kins have taken undue advantage of his position. But the fragmented mandate, no the sheer rule of politics, demands that he compromises with his conscience again and again. Yes he did put his foot down when it came to nuclear deal and made the high command endorse his stand.
He came out as a wily politician when all his detractors had to cut a sorry face in the electoral battle with the iron man melting in no time and despite doing away with a semblance of morality in crafting the ¾ fronts karat and company stands isolated and is under immense heat.
The only answer can be that having had an illustrious professional career the Dr. wants to do his bit for the country. He knows that the politics is the art of possibilities. He is also focused on his priorities. So he lets his peers run away with the cherry, icing as also a large enough pieces of cake so long he is left with sufficient to meet his goal.
While he was branded weak and incompetent in his first inning perhaps he will be more assertive in the second one and will force his opponent to swallow their pride and words, DMK and TMC notwithstanding.
Amen!

Don’t be in illusion. Singh don’t want to serve the country, he want to serve a particular class of people (bourgeois class).
